NOTD: Essie San Tropez + Julep Sienna

Essie's Sand Tropez is probably my favourite colour to wear because it's a neutral colour that goes with any outfit. It's described as "a soft sandy beige." I'd have to agree. It's the perfect beige nail polish for me. It has a creamy formulation. It can sometimes be streaky on the first coat. You need 2-3 coats of this nail polish to reach maximum opacity.

I added Julep Maven's Sienna as an accent nail because I was inspired by the song Gold by Britt Nicole. It's just a gold metallic nail polish mentioned in a previous post. I thought that the gold would look really nice with the beige. The gold metallic just adds a pop of shininess to a neutral manicure. I've gotten quite a few compliments of people loving my nails today. I love having an accent nail in my manicure because it makes a simple colour look different. I think metallic colors are perfect to use  as accent colors because you get to stay on trend without having your nails be overly metallic.

"You're worth more than gold."

NOTD: Essie All Tied Up

This colour was part of Essie's summer collection. On Essie's site the colour is described as "a rustic bronze with subtle golden shimmer." I'd call it a muted pink/ antique rose-like/ pinky bronze colour with gold shimmer. When looking at the colour in the bottle the shimmer is visible. When the colour is on your nails he shimmer shows most in sunlight or directly under a light, otherwise you really have to look closely for the shimmer.

The formula is thick enough that you can get away with one coat but I prefer to put on two coats no matter what the colour is. I don't know if you can still find this colour because their summer collection might have been limited edition. I bought this when the collection was released back in June. If you are able to get your hands on this colour I suggest that you buy it because it's unlike any pink-like colour that I own. In my opinion this colour can also be a really nice colour for fall.

NOTD: OPI Red

Today was my first day back at school and I decided to wear classic red nail polish. Why? Because it adds a pop of colour to any outfit but still looks classy. I've searched for months for the perfect red nail polish and OPI Red is the perfect red for me. It's described as "the color that started it all" on the OPI website. After seeing that description I knew it was the colour that I was looking for. Every nail polish brand has red but some seem too orange or too pink. This nail polish is really red which is the kind of red that I like. If you're looking for a real red I'd recommend this one.

The photo does not do it justice. It looks more pinkish in the picture but in person it's the perfect red. The formula is thick enough that you can get away with one coat. Most of the time I will one put on one coat but this time I put two coats just because two coats are always recommended for the perfect manicure.

Cute, Comfy & Affordable Shoes

When it comes to buying shoes I'm the type of person who is willing to spend more to find a great pair of shoes that will last me a long time. I'm in love with Michael Kors flats. I typically prefer quality over quantity but sometimes I like to find a good deal. The other day I was shopping with two of my friends. We went to Payless and my feet were hurting because we had been walking all day so I decided to check out some of their shoes. I don't usually shop there and I don't know why. They actually have great shoes at awesome prices and the quality is pretty good. You're not going to find the best high quality designer shoes there but you will find affordable shoes. They also have designers who make shoes for them like Christian Siriano. I ended up buying a pair of really cute cap toe flats. They're honestly the most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever had.

They're called the Claire Scrunch flat by the brand dexflex by Dexter. I've never heard of this brand before. The second I tried them I said they feel like slippers. The shoes has two layers of memory foam insoles, extra cushioning to relieve pressure points in the ball and heel of foot and a flexible outsole made for ease of movement. They cost $34.99 CAN/ $24.99 USD. At a price like that I wasn't going to leave them there. So I bought them and for the past few days I've been choosing these over all my other shoes. I'd even say that they're more comfortable than my beloved TOMS. They also look like lots of designer shoes that I've seen which is an added bonus.

eos Hand Lotion Review

I know that people heard of eos lip balm but did you know that they also sell hand lotion? I've known about this product for quite a while but I didn't think that they sold it in Canada. I am so glad that they do. The other day I was walking home from the gym and I decided to stop at the drug store to see if they got any new products. When I saw that they had the eos everyday hand lotion I jumped at the chance to get to because it's the first time that I've seen it in Canada. The cashier freaked out when she saw it and I had to show her where I found it. She was just as excited as I was to try it.

I chose the cucumber scent because I love cucumber. They also have berry blossom and a regular unscented one. I've been using it obviously on my hands for the past 5 day before I go to bed and in the morning I've noticed that my skin is soft. It's 97% natural and paraben free. This lotion it infused with shea butter, aloe and antioxidants. It lasts for 36 months. On the back there's a sticker that you peel off and there's a paper that says "Smooth on our super-soothing hand lotion and make your skin smile." I don't know if my skin smiles but when I smell the lotion it makes me smile lol. I like the eos lip balm and figured the lotion would be just as good as the lip balm. I honestly love the hand lotion way more than the lip balm. It's really refreshing to use. I think that this lotion works really well at keeping your skin moisturized and smooth. I'd definitely recommend it. The packaging is adorable. It looks like and egg and it's flat. It's small so it's perfect for keeping in your bag. I found it at Jean Coutu and it was $4.99. I've been looking for it at Shoppers Drug Mart, I haven't seen it but I'm guessing they'll get it soon.

NOTD: Essie Fiji

This is one of my go to nail polishes. When I want to paint my nails but don't know what color to wear this is one of the colors that I'll pick. One thing you need to know about me is that I love, love, love Essie nail polish. Most of the nail polish that I own is Essie.

I call fiji my classy pink. Essie calls it 'an opaque creamy pale pink.' That basically explains this color. It's the perfect girly pink because it's not too pink or bright so it's a perfect color to wear to work or school, or when you want to look perfessional. You need at least 3 coats of it for the perfect manicure.

*The color looks more pink in person.

Sincerely, JoJo

NOTD: OPI Brisbane Bronze

This is the first OPI nail polish I ever bought. This color is special to me because I bought it right after my birthday last year so I associate it with my birthday. OPI describes it as 'a down under wonder-ful shade of golden brown.' aIt's a metallic brown/bronze nail polish. I would consider it as a metallic nail polish as well. I also consider it to be a neutral color because it goes with any outfit.

I think this color is perfect for fall because it's a little on the dark side but has lots of shine to make your nails noticeable. I also love wearing it in winter to add some shine during the dull months. I have worn it in summer but I personally don't think it's bright enough for summer. For a perfect manicure I'd suggest 2 to 3 coats.

Sincerely, JoJo

Beloved Blushes: Rimmel London Santa Rose blush

The Rimmel London Lasting Finish Blendable Blush in Santa Rose has become one of my favourite blushes in a short period of time. I bought it about two weeks ago and I've been using it almost every day since. allure.com calls this blush a dusty pink. I would call it a pale pinky peach, almost nude color.

I've completely fallen in love with this color. When you first see it, it doesn't look like much but once you try it you will love it. I've passed it many times without giving it a second glance but then Tanya Burr mentioned it in her July Favorites so I figured it would be worth trying. On my skin it looks like a pale peach and it brightens up my face. It's perfect for everyday when you don't want to wear much make up but you still want your skin to have some glow. If you see it, pick it up because pictures do not do it justice.

Sincerely, JoJo.

MAC hue lipstick review & swatch

Hue is my first MAC lipstick. I bought it March and I've been wearing it a lot. MAC describes it as a soft pale pink (Glaze). I think that's pretty accurate although it's a nude pink. The lipstick is really creamy and applies really well.

I love the smell of MAC lipsticks. I'm not entirely sure what the scent actually is, it possibly has a hint of vanilla. I have fair skin and I find that it works well with my skin tone. I usually put a lip gloss over it. In my opinion, this color is a must have in any make up collection.

NOTD: Julep Kim & Sienna

These two colors are from the Julep Maven August Box. If you're not familiar with Julep boxes it's a monthly  subscription service where you pay $19.99 a month and you get a nail polish box. It's perfect for me because I am OBSESSED with nail polish. You get to see the colors a head of time and you can skip the month whenever you want. I decided to get the August It Girl box because I was impressed with the metallic colors that they offered this month.

Sienna is in the It Girl box. It's a metallic gold chrome color. There are tiny flecks of glitter incorporated in the color. It's really pretty. Kim is part of the Bombshell box but I added it to my order because I fell in love with the color. It's a metallic grey gun metal color. It's really metallic and shiny. I'm normally not a big fan of metallic colors but I am very impressed with these colors and I'm glad that I bought it. If you love nail polish I definitely recommend that you try Julep nail polish.

*They ship to the US and Canada. You can buy Julep nail polish at Sephora.
